Fort Lauderdale, a city of 165,000 residents, is located just 45 km (28 miles) north of Miami. It is a popular tourist destination on Florida's Atlantic Coast that attracts 12 million visitors annually.

Fort Lauderdale is famous for its network of canals.  It is sometimes called the "Venice of America".

The "New River" that flows through the heart of the city, is a maritime artery for yachts, historic riverboats and water taxis. A lovely pedestrian walkway meanders along this picturesque river.
